Join the Friends of Big Bone to learn about the elephants of North America.

 

Big Bone Lick State Historic Site has been home to two or three species of elephant-like creatures. The talk will cover these and many other elephant relatives that roamed North America in the past. Specimens come from museums at the University of Nebraska, the Gray Fossil Site, Blue Licks Battlefield SRP, the Falls of the Ohio and, the Cincinnati Museum Center spanning times from the Miocene to the late Pleistocene period.
