An Evening with York

Friends of Big Bone hosted “An Evening with York” at Ryle High School in Union, KY. York was portrayed by Hasan Davis, a member of the Kentucky Chautaqua. The evening consisted of York telling his story of being the only black member of the Corps of Discovery. As a slave of William Clark, York also explained how his family was affected by his situation and how he eventually gained his freedom and spent the rest of his life as a businessman.
