Celebration of the Bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark
Corps of Discovery
As part of the Salt Festival, Boone
County celebrated the Bicentennial Celebration of
the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery. The corps
docked their flatboat and pirogue and made camp at
Big Bone Landing for the week. The Friends of Big
Bone worked with several local organizations planning
activities for the celebration, making the history
of the Corps of Discovery come alive in Boone County.
The Big Bone Lick State Park was just one of four
official Lewis & Clark Trail Sites east of the
Mississippi.
