Before Lewis and Clark made their infamous journey, the Mandan Indians were a thriving community along the upper Missouri River in North Dakota. Learn about these Native Americans who maintained secure villages and were able to provide the Core with shelter and food during the harsh winter of 1804-1805. Discover the Core’s effects and those of other white visitors/traders on the Mandans and their demise.
